Maintaining the pipeline of competitive, driven URM medical students, residents, and fellows who are educated and trained in our academic centers is one of the tenets of AMP. In order to do this, we make Recruitment one of our top priorities. Our Departments Chairs and Division Chiefs, as well as Program leaders have recognized the importance of reaching out to competitive URM applicants.

  • Welcoming potential medical students, interns, residents, and fellows who are applying to programs at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Enhancing the pipeline between Penn medical students and UPHS/CHOP housestaff through fostering mentoring relationships
  • Partnering with Graduate Medical Education to support Residency and Fellowship Programs with outreach to competitive URM applicants

AMP Department Representatives

CHOP as well as each UPHS department is represented by an AMP department representative. Representatives serve as liaisons between departments and AMP and assist with the recruitment and retainment of underrepresented minority housestaff and faculty.  In addition, department representatives facilitate under representative minority medical student transitions between clinical rotations in respective departments.
