Dr. Jim Guevara received his bachelor’s of science in zoology from the University of California, Davis and his master’s in theology from New College Berkeley. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University and an MPH from the University of Washington. He is currently an associate professor in Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the Pereleman School of Medicine and CHOP. He is a founding member of CHOP’s PolicyLab which aims to form program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research.
What made you interested in your current field of medicine?
I had an interest in combining clinical epidemiological research combined with policy and interactions with community organizations
What do you enjoy about working in the UPHS-CHOP system?
I enjoy the diversity of patients I encounter, the interesting and challenging problems I face to solve, and the really smart people I collaborate with on a dialy basis.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Philly?
Eating at great restaurants, seeing shows, and running along Kelly Drive.
Any words of wisdom to share?
Teaching and research are fun and challenging. We need more diversity in academia, so please consider an academic career.
